A History of Resilience and Charm
The Darlington Inn was established in 1942 and then later bought by Jamie and Eloise Hucks in 1965. The original Darlington was a wooden structure that had 12 rooms for rent. Some of the rooms shared a bathroom (if you can believe that) and all doors had simple locks with no worries of intruders. Many long lasting friendships were made during days and the children of our guests grew up together as they would see each other summer after summer. Such a wonderful time.
Then in 1981 a fire cause damage beyond repairs and the building was torn down. The new facility opened in 1983, embodying a spirit of renewal and resilience. Over the years, the Hucks family expanded their ownership to include several neighboring beach homes, many of which date back to the 1940s. These classic Myrtle Beach cottages retain their original wood and timeless charm. They offer guests a nostalgic glimpse into the area's rich history while providing modern comforts for a memorable stay by the ocean.
